A request should name the photograph and ask the custodian to release any segregable open portion.
The image must be matched to the right event. Use the booking number, booking date, charge attached to that booking, and the person's identifying details. When two photos differ, compare the source agency, date, and record number before assuming either is wrong. An updated state or registry image can coexist with an older jail intake image. The photo with the closest date is not necessarily tied to the release being researched.
Why Shannon County Has No Mugshot Gallery

A person transferred from Shannon County Jail into the Missouri Department of Corrections has entered a different record system. Dignity matters. Repeating an image adds little when an agency link and record number answer the question. Use the minimum personal detail needed to distinguish the correct official record.
Missouri Mugshot Removal Payment Ban
Missouri § 407.1150 bars a publisher or disseminator of booking photographs or criminal-record information from soliciting or accepting payment or other consideration from the subject to remove, correct, or modify that material. A knowing and willful violation is a class A misdemeanor. Each payment is a separate violation.
The statute also provides a private remedy of at least $10,000, or actual and punitive damages when greater, with potential fees and costs. This law does not make every government booking photo open, and it does not validate the publisher's caption. Its focus is the demand for value from the pictured person in exchange for removal or correction.
For a wrong image or caption, preserve the page address and a copy of the error. Send the booking number and an authoritative correction to the publisher and originating agency. Do not pay merely because a site says payment is the only correction route. Legal advice on a particular claim should come from a qualified Missouri attorney.
Expungement Can Close Shannon Mugshots
Missouri § 610.140 provides a court petition process for eligible records. In the current version, the general waiting period is measured from completion of the authorized disposition. It is three years for an eligible felony and one year for an eligible misdemeanor, municipal offense, or infraction.
